This is a must-see hike when you come to Sainte Foy Tarentaise! It is an easy itinerary along a very pleasant, magnificent and exotic path.
Map available at the Tourist Office of the resort.
From the Échaillon car park, continue along the forest track towards the hamlet of Échaillon and carry on to the listed hamlet of “Le Monal”. Follow the same route back.
Access to the Échaillon car park, the starting point for walks to the hamlet of Le Monal and the Clou valley, is prohibited to private vehicles.
This measure aims to protect natural areas, wildlife and flora. Consequently, a free shuttle service operates from the Mélèzes car park at the Sainte-Foy resort during the summer season from 7 July to 29 August.
Vehicle access and parking at the Échaillon car park are not permitted from 1 July to 31 August (see Order 2024/36 via the link below: https://www.saintefoy-tarentaise.fr/arretes-municipaux-reglementant-lacces-aux-routes-dalpages/).
This hamlet consists of mountain chalets that have retained all their 18th- and 19th-century authenticity – the natural environment of stone and wood is fully reflected in the building style, and water is also abundant in the pools and streams that wind their way between the houses.
